- These locations will be grandfathered and some restrictions will be placed upon the current owners to account for the increase in value.
- Murderers (players with more than 5 long term counts) will no longer be able to accidentally recall into a guarded region.
- This is to account for the changes to the regions listed above as there can be spots that were safe before that would be covered by guards now.

🔗 Archived Forum Source: View Original Discussion Thread • 6 Archive Image(s)
+ 2 additional original images available in forum archive.
Key Changes & Highlights:
- Archery - Chance to hit
- Adjusted the chance to hit in archery combat situations to use a better formula factoring in range/recent movement and player skills.
- Greatly reduced the accuracy penalty when moving recently while firing a bow. It will vary between a 5% - 20% penalty to chance to hit depending on the range to the target.
- Technical Note: Archery on UO Renaissance determines chance to hit differently than other combat skills. Normal combat has a roughly 50% maximum chance to hit when the attacker and defenders skills are equal. The chance to hit with a bow, when not standing next to someone, is based on the range to the target, whether or not you have moved recently, and the attacker and defenders skills.
- Testing: Players can enable debug testing information for these changes on the Dev/Live servers by opening their player profile and enabling the debug option. This will send 2 lines of information per archery attack indicating chance to hit, range, recent movement, attacker and defender skills factors.
- Range: Range to the target
- Moved: Indicates if you have moved recently resulting in an accuracy penalty
- Def: Target Player/Monsters Defense Value
- CtH: Chance to Hit
- Atk: Your Attack Value
- Arrows and bolts will now properly stack when training archery.
- If a shot is missed and there is an arrow or bolt nearby the dropped arrow/bolt will attempt to add to the nearby stack.

- Sorry for the delay on this patch. With my IRL work load going a bit crazy (year end deadlines) and a new baby arriving things have been a bit hectic. We have added a bunch of new volunteers to help share the load and will get back to our usually somewhat late development timeline rather than the very late method. I do take some pride in the fact the server has been stable for over 100 days without a memory leak or performance issues. Not many, if any, UO servers can claim this level of stability.
- Starting on February 11th Players logging in will find a special gift bag in their bank. Just some fun staff to apologize for the delay in getting this all together. Players will have a few days to claim these (it will be brief) in order to reward our players who stuck it out in the interim.

#90 • Client Patch 2 - Nov 29th, Restoring Britannia's Waterways 📅 Nov 29, 2019 at 3:38 PM
🔗 Archived Forum Source: View Original Discussion Thread • 14 Archive Image(s)
+ 10 additional original images available in forum archive.
Key Changes & Highlights:
- Following Client Patch 1 that addressed map issues left behind by OSI (black holes, other tile issues), a project was launched to transform the waterways and shorelines near populated areas here on UO:Renaissance into what the original Ultima Online developers envisioned before scrapping the idea due to time constraints.
- From a blog post by Raph Kostner titled, "How UO rares were born" , he explains:
- Water in UO had a painstakingly created depth effect on the coastlines, which was made by using translucent water objects over a trench close to the coast, then fading the translucency; once you were at a depth where the water was opaque, we switched to tiles. (I spent many hours filling in those objects, and wrote flood-fill code to place them all. You can faintly see the effect in the radar map here — a “halo” around the coastline). It was all for the sake of a cut feature: having some of the fish creatures visibly swimming under the surface in shallow water. But, sometimes a tile got missed, and there would be a “hole” in the water. Click to expand...
- The "halo" he refers to is what you can see it on the Radar Map, around the coastline.
- Up close, it looks like this with the static water tiles enabled and disabled:
- Here'e a screenshot from Ultima Online Alpha (Serpent's Hold) showing off what they were at least envisioning:
- The project focused primarily on the following areas with the goal of enabling translucent water tiles took advantage of the trenches Raph Kostner referred to above. While Ultima Online is full of water, since the process to convert can be time consuming the initially focused on are areas thought to have enough foot traffic to see the changes such as:
- All towns in Britannia (including docks, waterways, moats, in-house pools -- anything with water)
- Including all of the waterways in Vesper, Trinsic, Britain, Serpents Hold & Bucs Den.
- Moongates (if near the sea)
- Every lake found throughout the land
- All bridges that cross over water
- ... and 24 additional specific fixes and adjustments. Full details in the archived thread.

Key Changes & Highlights:
- Starting on March 25th players will be notified of the availability of a client update when using the Renaissance Launcher. (As seen in the image below) This post will cover the changes that are included with this update.
- For more information about how the Launcher works, how client updates are delivered and how to get the Renaissance Launcher click here or navigate down to the 2nd post in this thread.
- Every area that had the water updated now should have shading around all the rocks and plants. This helps to create better depth and visuals.
- When you place thousands and thousands of plants and rocks, some are bound to not place as you would hope and cause some graphical issue (clipping mainly). This cleans up a bunch of them but more will continue to be addressed.
- Character Creation Process
- When creating a new character, the Samurai, Ninja, Paladin and Necromancer templates have been replaced with Animal Tamer, Bard, Rogue and Archer with shard era specific starting templates.
- This version introduces a new scripting engine that makes it easier to create and share macros.
- For more information, visit the Razor Scripting Engine Guide .
- Release notes:
- Introduction of the Razor Scripting Engine (thanks to everyone for your time testing and providing feedback)
- New Sound & Music Tab: Filter out any game sound, trigger music and listen to any sound
- Added while loop to the macro system
- ... and 18 additional specific fixes and adjustments. Full details in the archived thread.

#97 • Client Patch 3.4 - June 14th - UO:R Launcher and CUO/Razor Updates 📅 Jun 13, 2020 at 10:12 PM
🔗 Archived Forum Source: View Original Discussion Thread • 4 Archive Image(s)
Key Changes & Highlights:
- In preparation for Patch 91, a minor client patch was released that updates the UO:R Launcher and updates the versions of Razor and ClassicUO.
- You will be prompted to update next time you open the UO:R Launcher. Be sure to close out of everything before you update.
- UO:R Launcher Updates:
- Enabled support to have the Launcher download files using a CDN. This will enable people, based on where they live, to download UO:R from data centers closer to them.
- For example, if you live in the UK, it will download from Frankfurt or Amsterdam depending on your location instead of a data center in the United States.
- At the moment, this feature is not enabled.
- Removed the ClassicUO Dev Preview option
- This option was added early on when the ClassicUO Dev Preview was months ahead of the beta releases. This has since changed, and the beta releases have become much more stable and the changes between beta releases aren't as significant as they once were. You can still use the ClassicUO Dev Preview on your own, but it's recommend that you use the version provided by the launcher.
- To use ClassicUO, go to Settings and select "Use ClassicUO Client (open source) with Razor"
- If you were using the developer preview, you can copy/paste your profiles/macros by copying the Data folder from C:\UORenaissance\ClassicUO\Preview to C:\UORenaissance\ClassicUO\
- Updated all the components used to build the Launcher
- More of a developer maintenance task -- helps maintain ease of development.
- ... and 18 additional specific fixes and adjustments. Full details in the archived thread.
