Renaissance FAQ
Renaissance Knowledgebase & F.A.Q. Welcome to the UO: Renaissance Frequently Asked Questions. Whether you are a classic veteran returning to Sosaria after years away or an adventurer stepping onto our shores for the very first time, this guide covers essential rules, connection parameters, world mechanics, and community standards.
Server & Connection
What is the server address and login port?
To connect to UO: Renaissance, point your client or launcher to:
- Server Host:
play.uorenn.com(oruorenn.com) - Port:
2593
What client should I use to play?
- Windows: We recommend ClassicUO bundled directly through the New UO:R All-In-One Launcher. It handles all installation, updates, razor profiles, and high-FPS rendering automatically.
- Linux / Steam Deck: Add
UORLauncher.exeas a Non-Steam Game and set compatibility to Proton 11 (Beta). The game installs and runs straight out of the box. - Mobile (Android & iOS): Fully supported via Mandlar's MobileUO client (Download v1.0.24).
- See the full guide at Razor & Client Setup.
How many accounts may I create?
- Players are permitted a maximum of 3 accounts.
- Up to 3 accounts may be online simultaneously per IP address.
- Account sharing is strictly forbidden.
- Accounts are never deleted due to inactivity.
Era Philosophy & Mechanics
Is Trammel enabled on UO: Renaissance?
No. Britannia exists as a single, unified Felucca facet. We preserve the original danger, risk, excitement, and open-world economy that defined Ultima Online at its peak. However, we have implemented modern protections like the Young Player System to nurture beginners without fragmenting the community into separate dimensions.
What are the stat and skill caps?
- Stat Cap: 225 total (maximum 100 in any individual stat before magical buffs).
- Skill Cap: 700.0 total points (allowing 7 Grandmaster 100.0 skills, or customized skill splits).
Are there item insurance, runic tool bonuses, or artifact gear?
No. Renaissance strictly adheres to the golden pre-AOS item philosophy. Equipment is tangible and perishable. When you perish, your items remain on your corpse to be retrieved or looted. There are no luck statistics, hit chance increase items, or overpowering neon artifacts.
Macroing & Automation (AVS)
Can I macro skills while away from the keyboard (AFK)?
Yes, with specific limitations. Unattended skill training using Razor is permitted for standard character development (e.g. practicing combat on a sparring partner in a private residence, casting spells, or training crafting skills from your secure backpack).
Can I harvest resources or hunt monsters AFK?
ABSOLUTELY NOT. Unattended resource gathering and monster combat are strictly forbidden:
- You may not mine, lumberjack, fish, shear sheep, or pick cotton unattended.
- You may not lockpick dungeon or town chests unattended.
- You may not kill monsters, run unattended bard provoke loops, or loot bodies unattended.
- You may not sell items to NPC vendors unattended.
What is the Attended Verification System (AVS)?
UO: Renaissance utilizes an automated **Attended Verification System**. If the server detects resource gathering or cyclic farming, an interactive verification gump will appear requiring you to confirm you are actively at your keyboard. Failing or ignoring the verification will disrupt your action, jail your avatar, or result in disciplinary action.
Housing & Property
How many houses can a player own?
- Each character on an account can own 1 house.
- With 5 characters per account across 3 permitted accounts, players enjoy ample housing flexibility for workshops, vendor malls, and guild keeps.
How does house decay work?
- Houses decay over approximately 14 days if not refreshed.
- Simply clicking or opening your house sign while holding owner/co-owner credentials refreshes the property back to "Like New."
- Accounts that remain completely inactive for 90 days will have their properties marked as Condemned.
- Boathouses and seafaring vessels also decay in approximately 14 days if not deployed or maintained.
Crime, Guards & World Rules
How does town guard protection work?
Major settlements (Britain, Trinsic, Minoc, Moonglow, Yew, Skara Brae, Jhelom, Vesper, Cove, Ocllo) maintain royal guard protection. Speaking the command "guards" will summon royal guards who execute instant, inescapable justice against flagged criminals, murderers, and hostile monsters.
- Note: Buccaneer's Den has no guards! Enter at your own risk.
How do murder counts and stat loss work?
- Slaying an innocent (blue) character allows the victim to report the crime.
- Accumulating 5 murder counts flags your character permanently as a Murderer (red name).
- Murderers killed while bearing excessive long-term murder counts suffer severe skill and stat loss upon resurrection, known as stat penalty.
What is the "Discouraging Gameplay" policy?
While conflict and piracy are natural components of Felucca, gameplay whose primary intent is to harass and drive players away from the shard is prohibited.
- Accepted Felucca Play: Killing in dungeons, open-field battles, looting corpses, stealing from non-young backpacks, looting unsecured houses.
- Prohibited Discouraging Play: Entrapping players in locations forcing stuck-call resets, using dead ghost scouts to track players at champion spawns, excessive griefing, and verbal hate speech.
Unique Shard Features
- Attended Gathering & Crafting: Perfectly balanced economy where materials retain high value because they cannot be flooded by AFK macro bots.
- Bulk Order Deeds (BODs): Deep crafting progression for Blacksmiths and Tailors offering rare colored runic hammers, clothing dyes, sturdy tools, and mobile forges.
- Platinum Rewards: Active play, milestone achievements, and tournament events award platinum coins redeemable for rare decorative items, ethereal mounts, and unique house add-ons.
- Ancient MIBs & High Seas: Sunken galleons, deep sea krakens, water elementals, and pirate treasures for maritime adventurers.
- Custom Holiday & Global Events: Year-round staff-hosted festivals including Halloween Horrors, Christmas Krampus Lairs, Easter Hunts, and shard anniversary tournaments.
