Jump to Section:

Fishing Basics & Deep Water

  • Tools: A simple Fishing Pole (crafted with Carpentry & Tailoring thread).
  • Shallow vs Deep Water:
    • From 0.0 to 80.0 skill, anglers can catch common fish and footwear from shorelines or shallow coastal waters.
    • At **80.0+ Fishing**, characters can venture into **Deep Water** (open ocean navigable only by boat). Deep water unlocks the ability to hook Sea Serpents, Special Fishing Nets, and Messages in Bottles.

Messages in a Bottle (MiBs) & SOS

When fishing in deep water, high-skill fishers will occasionally pull up a **Message in a Bottle**:

  • Opening the bottle extracts an **SOS Distress Message** with coordinates of a sunken vessel (e.g., `12° 45'N, 34° 18'W`).
  • **Ancient SOS**: Rarely, an SOS is found parchment-aged in golden text — an **Ancient SOS**. These lead to legendary wrecks guarded by elite Krakens and grant unique decorative ocean artifacts, white cloth, and ancient chests.

Salvaging Sunken Ships

1. Sail your galleon to the precise sextant coordinates listed on the SOS parchment. 2. Cast your fishing pole directly into the ocean coordinates. 3. You will begin reeling in sunken salvage: waterlogged boots, seashells, bones, and ultimately the **Sunken Metal Chest**. 4. Sunken chests are packed with thousands in gold coins, magic weapons, gems, and rare scrolls.

Special Fishing Nets & Krakens

Special Fishing Nets are dropped by deep sea serpents:

  • Throwing a net into deep water churns the sea, spawning multiple aggressive **Deep Sea Serpents**, **Water Elementals**, and **Krakens**.
  • Defeating these monstrosities yields heavy loot, more bottles, and chances at high-tier treasure map drops.
