Combat Mechanics & Formulas

In UO:Renaissance, weapon damage is calculated based on three interconnected factors: your weapon's base damage range, your Tactics skill, your Strength, and your Anatomy skill.

The Damage Multiplier

$$\text{Final Damage} = \text{Base Damage} \times \left( 1 + \frac{\text{Tactics}}{100} \times 0.5 + \frac{\text{Strength}}{100} \times 0.2 + \frac{\text{Anatomy}}{100} \times 0.2 \right)$$

  • Tactics: Provides up to a +50% damage bonus at 100.0 skill (Grandmaster).
  • Anatomy: Provides up to a +20% base damage bonus at 100.0 skill, plus a chance for critical strikes in PvM.
  • Strength: At 100 Strength, grants a natural +20% damage modifier.
  • Weapon Speed: Determines the delay between swings. Higher dexterity increases your attack speed dramatically.

Swordsmanship & Lumberjacking

Swordsmanship is the most versatile combat skill in Britannia, encompassing one-handed blades, shields, polearms, and heavy executioner axes.

The Lumberjacking Damage Bonus

When wielding an Axe (such as a Battle Axe, Executioner's Axe, Double Axe, or Two-Handed Axe), your character gains a massive passive damage boost based on your Lumberjacking skill: $$\text{Lumberjack Bonus} = \frac{\text{Lumberjacking}}{100} \times 0.35$$ At 100.0 Lumberjacking, you gain a +35% damage bonus to all axe strikes!

Swordsmanship Weapon Table

Weapon Hands Speed Damage Range Average Special Move
Katana 1-Handed 58 5 – 26 15.5 Concussion Blow
Kryss / Cutlass 1-Handed 45 6 – 28 17.0 Armor Ignore
Broadsword 1-Handed 45 5 – 29 17.0 Crushing Blow

Bardiche 2-Handed 26 5 – 43 24.0 Paralyzing Blow
Halberd 2-Handed 25 5 – 49 27.0 Concussion Blow

Fencing & Poisoning

Fencing is characterized by rapid strike speed and piercing damage. Fencing weapons can be coated with deadly poisons via the Poisoning skill, inflicting lethal debuffs on contact.

Fencing Weapon Table

Weapon Hands Speed Damage Range Average Special Move
Dagger 1-Handed 70 3 – 15 9.0 Paralyzing Blow
Kryss 1-Handed 53 5 – 26 15.5 Armor Piercing

Spear 2-Handed 46 2 – 36 19.0 Paralyzing Blow
War Fork 1-Handed 45 4 – 32 18.0 Disarm

Mace Fighting & Stamina Drain

Mace weapons inflict blunt trauma. Every mace strike drains the target's stamina directly and inflicts heavy durability damage to enemy armor. When an opponent's stamina drops to zero, they are unable to run or push through players!

Mace Fighting Weapon Table

Weapon Hands Speed Damage Range Average Special Move
Quarter Staff 2-Handed 48 8 – 28 18.0 Concussion Blow
War Axe 1-Handed 42 9 – 30 19.5 Crushing Blow

War Mace 1-Handed 32 10 – 30 20.0 Crushing Blow

Archery & Ranged Combat

Archery provides long-range physical damage, allowing marksmen to pelt monsters and enemy players from a distance. In classic Renaissance mechanics:

  • Moving while drawing resets your shot timer.
  • Firing consumes arrows or crossbow bolts from your backpack.
  • Close-range archers suffer a slight defense penalty unless protected by a shield or high wrestling.

Archery Weapon Table

Weapon Speed Damage Range Average Ammunition
Bow 25 9 – 41 25.0 Arrows
Crossbow 20 12 – 42 27.0 Bolts
Heavy Crossbow 15 11 – 56 33.5 Bolts
