Treasure Map Tiers

Treasure maps drop from monsters across Britannia as tattered scrolls. A cartographer must decode the map before it can be dug up:

Level Map Title Cartography Lockpicking Initial Guardians Gold Drop
1 Plainly Drawn 27.0+ 36.0+ / Magic Unlock Skeletons, Mongbats, Zombies ~1,000 gp
2 Expertly Drawn 70.0+ 76.0+ Orc Mages, Gargoyles, Gazer Larva ~2,000 gp
3 Adeptly Drawn 80.0+ 84.0+ Dread Spiders, Liches, Air Elementals ~3,000 gp
4 Cleverly Drawn 90.0+ 92.0+ Daemons, Elder Gazers, Drakes ~4,000 gp
5 Deviously Drawn 100.0 (GM) 95.0+ Poison Elementals, Blood Elementals, Titans ~5,000 gp
6 Ingeniously Drawn 100.0 (GM) 100.0 (GM) Ancient Wyrms, Balrons, Poison Elementals ~10,000+ gp + Rares

Required Skills & Mining Bonus

  • Cartography: Used to decipher tattered maps. Maps cannot be dug until decoded.
  • Lockpicking: Levels 1 can be unlocked with the Magery spell `Unlock`, but Levels 2–6 require a physical Lockpick and high Lockpicking skill.
  • Mining Radius Bonus: The most critical convenience skill for treasure hunters.
    • Without Mining (0.0), you must dig on the **exact 1x1 coordinate tile**.
    • At 50.0 Mining, the search radius expands to a 2x2 area.
    • At 81.0 Mining, the search radius expands to 3x3.
    • At **100.0 GM Mining**, the search radius expands to a massive **4x4 tile radius (9x9 grid)**, making pin-pointing chest coordinates effortless.

Digging & Guardian Waves

  1. Stand at the decoded coordinates, double-click your **Shovel** or **Pickaxe**, and target the decoded Treasure Map.
  2. Your character will begin digging into the turf. Once the chest begins surfacing, the **initial guardian wave** will immediately spawn!
  3. Guardians must be defeated or provoked. As items are removed from the chest, additional **reinforcement guardian waves** may spawn unexpectedly.

Picking Locks & Removing Traps

Opening an unearthed treasure chest without disarming its trap triggers a lethal explosion that can instantly kill nearby adventurers:

  • Telekinesis Method: After picking the lock with your lockpicks, stand back at least 6 paces and cast **Telekinesis** on the chest. The explosion will safely discharge without harming the caster!
  • Remove Trap Skill: Adventurers with Remove Trap and Detect Hidden can disarm the mechanism directly.
