The Valentine's Event on UO:Renaissance is an annual celebration of dark romance running from February 7th through February 22nd. What is traditionally a festival of affection turns into a thrilling struggle against dark pagan rituals and corrupted heralds.

Lore & Location: Outside Wrong Dungeon
Rumors whisper that Cupid, once a revered herald of love and joy, has fallen to dark enchantments. Conducting twisted pagan experiments outside the grim mountain fortress of Wrong Dungeon, Cupid has established sinister camps and captured innocent souls in his dark ritual circles.
The event grounds are located in the rugged mountain approaches surrounding Wrong Dungeon. Adventurers can travel to the main entrance or slip into the back mountain pass.
A corrupted ceremonial altar and magical sparkles indicate the active ritual area. Adventurers must stay vigilant against both corrupted monsters and opportunistic rival players contesting the spawn!

Champion Battle Mechanics
The focal point of the Valentine's Event is a classic **Champion-style battle** staged at the ceremonial altar:
- Activating the Idol: Double-click the Idol of the Champion at the altar to initiate the encounter. Cupid's corrupted minions materialize instantly!
- Candle Progression:
- Every 5 White Candles ignites 1 Red Candle.
- Every 5 Red Candles escalates the encounter to a higher, more lethal tier of corrupted minions.
- Escalating Waves: Minions grow progressively harder, wielding deadlier combat arts, offensive spells, and aggressive swarming behavior.
Spells of Forbidden Love
Short on time or struggling to conquer challenging minion tiers? Adventurers can collect rare scrolls known as Spells of Forbidden Love.
* How They Work: Take a Spell of Forbidden Love scroll to the Idol of the Champion and place it onto the altar. Each scroll immediately ignites one additional red candle! * Strategic Advantage: Consuming scrolls allows raiding parties to fast-track through difficult waves or quickly summon Cupid before rival guilds arrive to contest the boss.
* How They Work: Take a Spell of Forbidden Love scroll to the Idol of the Champion and place it onto the altar. Each scroll immediately ignites one additional red candle! * Strategic Advantage: Consuming scrolls allows raiding parties to fast-track through difficult waves or quickly summon Cupid before rival guilds arrive to contest the boss.
Combat Strategy & Rooftop Tactics
The stone ramparts and mountainous ridges around Wrong Dungeon offer powerful tactical choices:
- High Ground Advantage: Archery specialists and spellcasters can scale staircases and position themselves atop rooftops and stone battlements to cast Energy Bolts, Chain Lightning, and ranged arrows while staying out of reach of ground-level melees.
- Melee Bottle-Necking: Dexxers and tamers can secure choke-points at archways, using Whirlwind attacks and Area Provocation to control swarming waves.
- Wilderness Caution: The event takes place in the open world — maintain situational awareness against player killers and ambushers.
Confronting Cupid
Once all 16 red candles are lit and the final corrupted wave is slain, Cupid appears on the battlefield:
- Dark Enchantments: Cupid possesses deadly archery, dispels summons, casts high-circle magic, and inflicts disruptive crowd curses.
- Preparation: Stock your party with Greater Cure and Greater Heal potions, Magic Reflection charges, and high-resist armor.
- Victory: Banishing Cupid breaks his tragic curse for the cycle and releases event-exclusive rewards.
Rewards & Cupid's Steed
Those courageous enough to defeat Cupid reap rare holiday rewards:
- Cupid's Trusty Steed: The most coveted reward of the event — an exquisite, rare mount with signature Valentine coloration. Champions have a rare opportunity to tame or claim Cupid's steed.
- Limited-Time Rares: Event-only decorative items, holiday hues, and Valentine collectibles.
- Pagan Camp Loot: Hidden chests surrounding the ritual site containing high-end magical weapons, armor, and gems.
