Tools & Smelting
To forge equipment, a blacksmith must stand within range of an Anvil and Forge, wielding a Smith's Hammer or Sledgehammer (crafted via Tinkering).
Raw Materials
- Iron Ore: Harvested through Mining.
- Smelting raw ore at a forge converts ore into ingots. Double-click ore, target the forge, and retrieve your ingots.
Colored Ore Tiers & Armor Ratings
In addition to basic Iron, Britannia features eight colored ores. Each metal grants increased Armor Rating (AR) to protective plate and shields, and extra durability to weapons:
| Metal Type | Mining Skill | Full Plate AR | AR Bonus | Durability Bonus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Iron | 0.0 | 46 AR | Baseline | Baseline |
| Dull Copper | 65.0 | 48 AR | +2 AR | +50 Durability |
| Shadow Iron | 70.0 | 49 AR | +3 AR | +100 Durability |
| Copper | 75.0 | 50 AR | +4 AR | +150 Durability |
| Bronze | 80.0 | 51 AR | +5 AR | +200 Durability |
| Gold | 85.0 | 52 AR | +6 AR | +250 Durability |
| Agapite | 90.0 | 53 AR | +7 AR | +300 Durability |
| Verite | 95.0 | 54 AR | +8 AR | +350 Durability |
| Valorite | 99.0 | 55 AR | +9 AR | +400 Durability |
Exceptional Quality & Arms Lore
When your blacksmithing skill is high, items have a chance to be crafted with Exceptional Quality:
- Exceptional Armor: Grants a flat +4 AR bonus across the board. An exceptional Iron Platemail tunic surpasses standard Agapite plate!
- Exceptional Weapons: Grants a flat +4 damage bonus to minimum and maximum damage ranges.
- The Arms Lore Synergy: For every 20 points of Arms Lore your character possesses, you gain a passive bonus to your chance of crafting exceptional items (+5% at Grandmaster Arms Lore).
- Maker's Mark: Grandmaster smiths stamp their items with: `[Item Name] crafted by [Your Name]`.
Equipment Repair & Durability
Combat slowly degrades weapon and armor durability:
- To repair gear, double-click a smith hammer and target the damaged item.
- Repairing an item permanently reduces its maximum durability by 1 point (unless repaired by a grandmaster smith with high skill, which minimizes loss).
- Powder of Fortifying: Obtained through Bulk Order Deeds, this rare powder can be applied to weapons and armor to restore maximum durability up to a cap of 255!
Bulk Order Deeds & Runic Hammers
Grandmaster smiths can obtain Bulk Order Deeds (BODs) from NPC blacksmiths:
- Fill orders for specific quantities of armor or weapons (e.g. 20 Exceptional Valorite Plate Tunics).
- Turn in completed deeds to receive gold, fame, and prestigious rewards including colored anvils, gargoyle pickaxes, powder of fortifying, and legendary Runic Hammers!
- Equipment crafted with Runic Hammers inherits powerful magical item bonuses (Ruin, Might, Force, Power, Vanquishing)!
